Sharing my view.

This is the view from my balcony. I like it better at night because the layering shows up with the lighting and the hills in the back are outlined with little orange dots of lights.
To the right of this hill is one of the snow capped volcanoes, but I cannot view it from my place.
On a really clear day, I can view the other volcano. Puebla sits between two snow capped volcanoes. One south and the other north.

This is out of my bedroom window. It was week and a half before it was clear enough for me to see. The dome thing is a place of birds and trees in a huge park near my place.

Home Sweet Home #473

ok.... not #473, but I have seemed to unpack in a number of places now. Here are some pics of the place I now rest at. I greatly dislike the color yellow, but these are the couches that came with the place. Luckily the pottery that is really famous here has blues and yellows, so that is the theme of my living room decor.

Yes... That is marble flooring... One wax away from being hours of fun in my fluffy socks.
It is open and has a very fresh feel to it which I love. Also, when I open the balcony door and the window in my room there is a very fresh cross breeze. It is on the third floor so I am quite safe leaving them open while I am at home.
Here is my sitting balcony, complete with foliage. Isn't it cute!!! I love it even more because it is very private and you can't see any window or streets from it.

Here is the balcony to dry my laundry, since I don't have a clothes drier.

Here is the sink to wash my laundry... I just use the washer (see the kitchen pick, the washer is on the right).
My bedroom. You can't really tell in this pic, but it is a king size bed. The funny thing is that I generally stay in the exact same place the entire night, so only 10% of the bed ever gets used.
More of my bedroom.
Here is the guest room. I am a bit jealous because it has much more window space than my room.
So I forgot to take a pic of the bathroom, but it is nothing special. Like a bathroom in the US minus a bathtub.

I have already had guests and can't wait until I have more. I don't have any neighbors at the moment (there are two other apartments on my level, and a business beneath) , but I am asking for some nice ones that I can be friends with.

Cinco De Mayo

Puebla is a large civilization between the port in Veracruz and Mexico City and, therefore, has always been the place where everything begins, the killing of indigenous by Cortez, revolutions, and the battle of 5 of May.

Mexico had suffered financial trouble and while England and Spain agreed to accept Mexico's debt payment at a later time, China... I mean, France decided it would be best to come and collect. Below is the fort, located here in Puebla, where the battle of Cinco De Mayo took place.

It seems rather short to stand against the French which was said to have the best army in the world at the time, but national pride sprang up and Mexico won. Below are pictures of another fort half a mile away.

Under the statue they have buried the general from the battle
With such a great monument and the amount of recognition that Americas seem to give the battle it was a surprise to find out that in Mexico, Cinco De Mayo is only celebrated in Puebla. There has been a fair all week, concerts, today a movie, a bull fight, and a two hour parade.

The parade celebrating the battle, of course, began with several military groups and vehicles. Here is only a sample, my favorite are the ones dressed in traditional clothing.

Even some of the floats had a military flare.
Eagles are a national symbol here as well.

All public schools marched through. The creativity in their uniforms displays the richness of culture here.

Even the professor got to march in the stifling heat in suits.

Every school had a way of displaying their school spirit.
This included flags

The snake/bird is a god of rain and was followed by the Aztecs and Mayas. This god also plays a big part in the symbol found on the Mexican flag which is a story in and of it self.

Every school also had a float. It was interesting to see what parts of the city and culture the schools decided to display.

Then the rescue teams game came in.

Here are the jaws of life.
Some times the people in boats splashed water at us.

Then the horses were bringing up the rear.

I took 250 pictures... Your welcome for not showing you all of them. :)
